Summer is now in full swing making it time to enjoy the shorts, playsuits and crop tops which are on trend which show off the bronzed legs and toned arms we`ve been working on all spring. From bo-ho to minimalism and bright colours to crazy prints, this seasons trends offer an outfit for everybody.
Trousers in general are big this summer from chinos to capri styles all making it big. High waisted and casually fitted on the legs are a popular style which can be teemed with flowing shirts and big shades.
Maxi dresses have evolved this season and making it big this summer are sheer maxi dresses. These dresses are simple, chic and elegant with a nod back to the minimalism of the nineties. Another big look this summer is colour blocking. Doing things you haven`t previously dared seems to be key to achieving this look. A yellow crop top with bright blue shorts is one way or even going monochrome with black and white can work.
Prints are still big this season with a plethora of aztec and animal prints on harem pants and tops. Floral prints have changed as ditsy prints are left behind in 2010 and oriental or applique florals make a big noise this summer. Fruity prints are very on trend also with banana, peaches or citrus fruits all over shirts and dresses. Mixing prints is also on the up, but it`s best to go for things that work well together.
For men a preppy look this summer is still hot. Shorts are a major thing for men this year but they need to be khaki and fitted rather than Bermuda and baggy. Grandad shirts and cotton tee`s for men are great in a slightly fitted style in neutral colours.
For men and women, a strong trend this summer can be surmised in the phrase `lazy day at the beach`. White and neutral shades in comfortable cotton clothes can be accessorised with round sunglasses and printed beach bags. Some companies have been producing this look for years if not decades and they are the ones to go for when looking for a stylish `surf and sand` look. The product lines found for example throughout the Animal clothing range, make laidback effortless beach chic as easy as it looks. This beach trend also ties in nicely with the 70`s boho look which has dominated this summers` trends, think floppy wide brimmed hats with wide legged trousers. The 70`s look is also achieved with peasant blouses, maxi skirts and maxi dresses.
